Club Information

The Club

Icicles Ski Club is a private club dedicated to providing comfortable economic facilities for skiing and other recreation activities to members and their families. Its history dates back to 1956, being formed by employees of ICI Australia Limited (Now Orica Ltd). It now has no connection with the company.

Club Organisation

Icicles Ski Club, a company limited by guarantee, is a non-profit sporting body established to conform with the statutory requirements laid down by the Taxation Department and the Australian Securities Commission. Club affairs are managed by a Board of Directors (commonly known as the Committee)

Financial Aspects

The Mt Buller and Falls Creek lodge buildings are owned by the Club on land leased from the Alpine Resorts Commission and have been redeveloped utilising bank loans and retained members' funds.

Accommodation

Both lodges provide a ski room, drying room, laundry with washing machine, clothes drier, iron etc., and fully equipped work shop for ski repairs and Club maintenance. All bedrooms have wardrobes, individually controlled heating and are adjacent to bathrooms. The kitchens have gas and electric cook tops, convection and microwave ovens, a range of electrical appliances, ample cooking utensils, automatic dishwashers and refrigerators. All crockery, cutlery etc are supplied as well as basic consumable items such as tea, coffee, sugar, flour, sauces, spices and cleaning products. A "Club supplies" cupboard exists for non-perishable left-overs such as breakfast cereals. Bedrooms are supplied with doona and pillows and bathrooms with toilet paper, bath soap, disinfectant and cleaning agents.

The lodges can be the base for various activities, summer and winter (as well as skiing!): Bush walking, trail riding (bike and horse), fishing, tennis etc.

Membership

The Club has a current limit of 134 members. The membership numbers are limited to ensure reasonable access to accommodation and to retain the friendly, close-knit atmosphere of the lodge. Family members including children under 25 are accommodated at membership rates. Your family's guests are welcome at both lodges with accommodation charged at an increased rate.
